CHAPTER FORTY-SEVEN: What to Expect from Your First ‘tox Appointment

Whether you’re looking to smooth fine lines or take a proactive step in your skincare journey, getting ‘tox (neurotoxin) for the first time can feel both exciting & a little nerve-wracking. At our med spa, we’re here to make your first experience as comfortable, informed, & empowering as possible.

Here’s exactly what you can expect—before, during, & after your appointment.

BEFORE YOUR APPOINTMENT

1. Consultation First

We always start with a one-on-one consultation. Your injector will ask about your goals, evaluate your facial anatomy, & explain what ‘tox can + can’t do. This is your time to ask questions—no pressure, just clarity.

2. Avoid These Before You Come In

To reduce the risk of bruising, we recommend avoiding alcohol, blood-thinning medications (like aspirin or ibuprofen), fish oil, or vitamin E for 24–48 hours beforehand—unless prescribed by your doctor. If you're not sure, just ask us!

3. Clean Face, No Makeup

Come with a clean face if possible—or we’ll gently cleanse your skin before injecting. No makeup, lotion, or SPF is needed that day.

DURING YOUR APPOINTMENT

1. Quick + Minimally Invasive

‘Tox is administered using a tiny needle, & most people describe it as a quick pinch or slight pressure. The entire treatment usually takes less than 15 minutes.

2. Targeted Injections

Common upper face areas we treat include forehead lines, frown lines (the “11s”), & crow’s feet. Your provider will map out the right spots based on your unique muscle movements.

3. No Downtime Needed

You'll be in & out—no numbing, bandages, or major recovery required.

AFTER YOUR APPOINTMENT

1. No Touching or Laying Down

Avoid rubbing or massaging the treated area, exercising, or lying flat for at least 4 hours after your appointment. This helps keep the ‘tox exactly where it’s intended.

2. Minimal Side Effects

You might see a small red bump at the injection site that fades within 15–30 minutes. Mild bruising or tenderness can happen, but it's temporary.

3. When You’ll See Results

‘Tox takes about 3–7 days to start working, with full results in 10–14 days. You’ll still look like you—just smoother & more refreshed.
